Cutfac comes with an MCP server and a skill. Your own agent uses them to learn your product, make formats and videos, check what it rendered and work through your feedback, on your Mac and with your account.

## How it connects

There's nothing to copy or paste. Cutfac finds your agents and connects them for you.

1. **Install Claude Code or Codex.** Sign in with your own account. On first launch Cutfac looks for both, and a button installs, updates or signs one in.
2. **Create a workspace.** Cutfac fills in a folder for your videos and connects every agent that's ready.
3. **Ask.** Ask on the board and Cutfac runs your agent for you, or open Claude Code or Codex in the workspace folder and ask there. Both get the cutfac tools and skill.

## What your agent can do

The cutfac server's tools, grouped by job. You ask in plain words, and your agent picks the tool.

- **Learn your product.** Learn from a link, a file or a folder, keep the brief of what your videos are for and where they go, and read it all back before starting. `learn`, `update_brief`, `workspace_overview`
- **Make formats.** Write a format from scratch or from a reference, then check what it still needs: mistakes, and the skills, programs and files it names. `list_formats`, `get_format`, `save_format`, `check_format`
- **Make videos.** Create a video in its own folder, bring in one you already have, and keep its details and sources current. `list_items`, `get_item`, `create_item`, `update_item`
- **Check its own work.** Probe each render for codec, aspect, resolution, audio and the format's rules, then look at the frames a viewer sees, with the 9:16 bands that platform UI covers dimmed. Your agent fixes the largest defects and looks again. `verify_item`, `review_media`
- **Handle your feedback.** Pick up what you pointed at on the board, save versions for you to compare side by side, and mark each request handled so you can compare before and after. `list_open_feedback`, `save_variant`, `resolve_feedback`
- **Report a Cutfac bug.** Tell your agent something in Cutfac is broken or confusing and it writes us a note. It shows you the exact text and sends it only once you agree. Runs you start from the board can't send one. `send_feedback_to_cutfac`, `/mcp__cutfac__feedback`

## The cutfac skill

The skill tells your agent how to work in a Cutfac workspace: learning, formats, videos and the board's feedback. The workspace keeps a copy for Claude Code and one for Codex, and Cutfac replaces them when a new version ships. A copy you edited stays as you left it, and your agent offers you the new version instead.

## What stays yours

- **Your account.** Agent runs use your Claude or ChatGPT plan, or your API usage, the same as when you code. Cutfac doesn't charge for AI.
- **Your files.** Everything lives in the workspace folder on your Mac. Cutfac doesn't upload your videos.
- **Your say.** When you make a template from a link, your agent can only read until you press Allow. The tools tell it to ask before it installs a skill or program a format needs.

## Questions

### Which agents can I connect?

Claude Code and Codex, installed on your Mac and signed in with your own account. Any other assistant works through the Copy prompt button on the board, without the cutfac tools.

### Do I have to run any commands?

No. Creating a workspace connects every agent that's ready. If your agent asks whether to use the cutfac server, allow it. If you build Cutfac from source, the README shows how to connect from the command line.

### Does connecting cost anything?

No. The server and the skill come with Cutfac. What your agent does counts against your own Claude or ChatGPT plan, or your API usage.

### What is MCP?

The Model Context Protocol, an open standard for giving an agent tools from another program. Claude Code and Codex both support it, so the cutfac tools show up next to their own.
