CapCut is a full video editor: you cut, caption and arrange the video yourself, with AI tools to speed it up. Cutfac has no editing timeline to learn. You point at the moment that's wrong, say what to change, and your own coding agent makes the edit on your Mac.

Plans and prices checked on: October 22, 2026. We make Cutfac, so read this with that in mind. Every claim about the other product links to its own pages below. If something there has changed, tell us and we'll fix it.

## Editing by hand, or asking for the change

CapCut is built for people who edit. You get a timeline, a large library of templates, effects and stock, and AI tools on top: auto captions, reframing from 16:9 to 9:16, and a tool that finds highlights in a long video and cuts them into shorts. You still make the calls and do the arranging.

Cutfac hands the editing to your coding agent. You play the video, select the range or box the part of the frame you mean, and type what's wrong. The agent gets a clip of that range, the frame with your box on it and the timecodes, edits the files with ffmpeg and renders a new version. You play the old and new versions side by side and keep one.

## What happens to your footage

CapCut's privacy policy says it can collect what you import through pre-uploading, even if you never save or publish it, for things like generating captions. It stores what it collects on servers in Malaysia, Singapore and the United States. Its terms of service ask for a license to your content that is perpetual, worldwide and sub-licensable, for operating, developing and providing its services, subject to your platform settings. Its privacy policy also lists training machine learning models among the ways it uses what it collects.

Cutfac keeps each video as a folder of plain files and YAML on your Mac. Cutfac doesn't receive your videos, and its terms claim no rights to them. Your agent does send what it reads to its own provider, Anthropic or OpenAI, under that provider's terms.

## General-purpose, or made for your app

CapCut makes any kind of video, and most of what it offers is for that: vlogs, edits, templates for trends.

Cutfac is narrower. It learns your app first from your site, your store page or videos you like, and writes what it finds into a file every run reads. Formats turn what works into rules the agent repeats, and every render is checked against upload rules and its format: length, resolution, aspect ratio, codec, frame rate and audio sync.

## Questions

### Is Cutfac a CapCut alternative?

For short-form videos about your own app, yes. It isn't a general-purpose editor: there are no templates, effects library or stock, and it runs only on macOS.

### Can I use both?

Yes. Cutfac's renders are ordinary video files in a folder on your Mac, so you can open one in CapCut or any other editor for finishing touches.

### Does Cutfac add a watermark on the free version?

No. The free version limits only how many videos you make, 3 per Mac. Every feature works.

### Can Claude Code or Codex drive CapCut?

Codex can, through CapCut's official Codex plugin for the ChatGPT desktop app, which is available outside the US for now. We didn't find a public CapCut API or MCP server for Claude Code. Community projects that write CapCut draft files exist, but they're unofficial, and CapCut's terms bar using automated scripts with its services. Cutfac is built for these agents.
