What Cutfac does, what it costs and what happens to your files.

## The product

### What is Cutfac?

A Mac app that has your coding agent, Claude Code or Codex, make short-form videos for your app. You review them by selecting a moment, boxing what's wrong and saying what to change.

### Who is it for?

Solo developers and small teams who built an app and have to market it themselves, and would rather not learn a video editor to do it.

### Do I need video editing experience?

No. You never touch a timeline or keyframes. You point at a range or an area and describe the change, and the agent makes it.

### Which platforms are the videos for?

Vertical 9:16 video for TikTok, Instagram Reels and YouTube Shorts. Today you post them yourself; publishing from the app is planned.

### Which languages does the app support?

English and Korean.

### Does it run on Windows or Linux?

The app is for macOS only. The open-source code runs with Bun and ffmpeg, but macOS is the only platform we test.

## Agents and AI costs

### Which coding agents does it work with?

Claude Code and Codex, installed on your Mac and signed in with your own account. Any other assistant works through the Copy prompt button.

### Do I pay for AI on top of the subscription?

Cutfac doesn't charge for AI. Agent runs count against your own Claude or ChatGPT plan, or your API usage, the same way they do when you code.

### What does the agent get when I ask for an edit?

A clip of the selected range, the frame with your box drawn on it, the start and end timecodes, the path to the original file and your request.

### What can the agent change on my Mac?

Claude Code runs with an allowlist of tools that you can change in the workspace config, and Codex runs in its workspace-write sandbox. Both work inside your workspace folder.

### What if I don't like the edit?

Compare the old and new versions, then restore the previous one. You can also ask for a different change in the same conversation.

## Files and privacy

### Where are my videos stored?

In a workspace folder on your Mac, as plain files and YAML. You can open, move and back it up like any other folder.

### Do you upload my videos?

No. Cutfac processes videos on your Mac and doesn't send them to us. The agent you run sends what it reads to its own provider, Anthropic or OpenAI, under their terms.

### Does the app collect analytics?

No. The app doesn't send usage data or analytics. If you use Send feedback, only what you submit in the form is sent.

## Pricing and license

### Is Cutfac free?

The source code will be open, and building it yourself is free. The signed Mac app with automatic updates is $19 a month or $180 a year, with a 7-day free trial.

### What is the early-bird offer?

The first 100 people who pay before launch get their first year for $99. The renewal price is shown at checkout.

### Is anything locked in the app?

No. The paid app and the open-source version do the same things. Paying gets you signed builds and automatic updates, and later the reference feed and format packs.

### What happens if I stop paying?

The app keeps working at the last version you had. Updates stop, and your files stay where they are.

### What license will the code use?

An open-source license, published with the code at launch.
