Drop in AVIF images and get lossless PNGs that open in any editor, transparency included. Nothing leaves your browser.

Runs in your browser. Nothing is uploaded.

## How to use it

1. **Add AVIF images.** Drop one or several. Your browser decodes them.
2. **Check the list.** Each PNG shows its size in pixels and the file size before and after.
3. **Download.** Save a single PNG, or all of them in one ZIP.

## What an AVIF file is

AVIF stores an image compressed with AV1, the video codec, inside the same kind of container as HEIC. Websites use it because the files are small, so an image saved from a browser can end in .avif. Current Chrome, Firefox and Safari open it, but many editors, older apps and upload forms don't.

## Why PNG

PNG is lossless and keeps transparency, so a logo, sticker or cut-out saved as AVIF comes out the same. It's the safe choice for an image you'll edit further.

Expect a much larger file: AVIF is one of the most efficient formats there is, and PNG stores every pixel. For a photo you only need to open or share, AVIF to JPG gives a smaller file.

## Questions

### Are my images uploaded?

No. Your browser decodes the AVIF and writes the PNG; nothing is sent anywhere.

### Is the transparency kept?

Yes. PNG has transparency, so clear and see-through areas stay as they are.

### Why is the PNG so big?

PNG stores every pixel without loss, while AVIF compresses hard. The picture is the same; only the file is larger.

### What about animated AVIF?

Only the first frame is converted, since a PNG holds one image.
