Drop in HEIC files and get lossless PNGs for editing, design apps and forms that ask for PNG. The tool brings its own HEIC decoder, so it works in Chrome too.

Runs in your browser. Nothing is uploaded.

## How to use it

1. **Add HEIC files.** Drop one or several. The decoder loads with the first file.
2. **Check the list.** Each PNG shows its size in pixels and the file size before and after.
3. **Download.** Save a single PNG, or all of them in one ZIP.

## Where HEIC comes from

iPhones save photos as HEIC when the camera format is High Efficiency. Apple also notes that on macOS Tahoe 26 or later, setting the Screenshot app's capture format to HDR saves screenshots as HEIF. Chrome, Firefox and many Windows apps can't open either.

## PNG or JPG

PNG keeps every pixel exactly, so it suits screenshots with text and images you'll edit and save again. It's also several times larger than JPG for a photo.

For photos you only want to share or upload, HEIC to JPG gives a much smaller file that looks the same. HDR brightness isn't kept in either.

## Questions

### Are my photos uploaded?

No. The HEIC is decoded and the PNG is written in your browser.

### Why is the PNG so big?

PNG stores a 12-megapixel photo without any loss, which takes many megabytes. Convert to JPG instead if you only need to share it.

### Does it work in Chrome and on Windows?

Yes. The tool reads HEIC with libheif, an open-source decoder, so it doesn't depend on the browser.

### Is the location removed?

Yes. The PNG is drawn from the pixels, so the location and other metadata aren't copied.
