Drop in an OGG or OPUS file and get an MP3 that plays on any phone, player or editor. The file never leaves your browser.

Runs in your browser. Nothing is uploaded.

## How to use it

1. **Add the OGG.** An .ogg or .opus file, as long as your browser can play it.
2. **Pick a bitrate.** 128 kbps is plenty for voice; 192 kbps for music.
3. **Convert and download.** Play the MP3 to check it, then download it.

## What an OGG file is

Ogg is an open container, usually holding Vorbis or Opus sound. Voice messages saved from chat apps such as Telegram, recordings from Linux apps and many game sound files come as Ogg. Some phones, car stereos, editors and upload forms don't take it; MP3 plays almost everywhere.

## Choosing the bitrate

Vorbis and Opus are both lossy, so going to MP3 loses a little more. Opus voice messages are small and speech-only, and 128 kbps MP3 keeps them clear. For music, pick 192 kbps, or 320 kbps for the closest copy.

## With ffmpeg

The same conversion on the command line:

- ffmpeg -i voice.ogg -codec:a libmp3lame -b:a 128k voice.mp3

## Questions

### Is my audio uploaded?

No. The OGG is decoded and the MP3 is written in your browser.

### Does it convert .opus files?

Yes. An .opus file is Opus sound in an Ogg container, and it converts the same way.

### Why won't my OGG convert?

Your browser has to be able to play it. Chrome, Edge and Firefox play Ogg Vorbis and Opus; if yours can't, try one of them.

### Which bitrate should I pick?

128 kbps for voice messages and podcasts, 192 kbps for music, 320 kbps for the closest copy.
