# Rotate image: turn photos 90° or 180°, free, no upload

> Rotate images in your browser by 90° either way or 180°, flip them too, and download a batch as a ZIP. The turn is saved into the pixels, so every app shows it. Nothing is uploaded.

Drop in photos that lie on their side or upside down, turn them, and download them upright. Nothing leaves your browser.

Runs in your browser. Nothing is uploaded.

## How to use it

1. **Add images.** Drop one or several. They're turned 90° to the right at once.
2. **Pick the turn.** 90° right, 180° or 90° left, with a flip if you need one.
3. **Download.** Save a single image, or all of them in one ZIP.

## Why a photo shows up sideways

Phones often store a photo on its side with a note saying which way to turn it. Most apps follow the note, but some upload forms and older programs don't, so the photo shows up sideways there.

This tool reads that note first, then applies your turn and saves the result into the pixels. The saved image has no note left to follow, so it looks the same everywhere.

## How it's saved

Each image is saved in its own format: a JPG stays a JPG, at the quality you pick, and a PNG stays a PNG with its transparency. Other formats, such as HEIC or WebP, come out as PNG. You can also pick PNG or JPG for all of them.

## On a Mac with sips

macOS comes with sips, which turns an image clockwise by the degrees you give:

- sips -r 90 photo.jpg --out photo-rotated.jpg

## Questions

### Are my photos uploaded?

No. They're turned and saved in your browser.

### My photo looks upright here but sideways elsewhere. Why?

It's stored sideways with a note to turn it, and the other app ignores the note. Download it here with no turn picked, or with the turn you need, and it's saved upright.

### Does rotating lower the quality?

A PNG keeps every pixel. A JPG is saved again at the quality you pick, which is close to the original but not identical.

### Can I rotate many photos at once?

Yes. The same turn applies to every image, and they download in one ZIP.
