Drop in WebP images and get JPGs that every app, phone and upload form takes. Pick the quality, convert several at once, and keep the files on your computer.

Runs in your browser. Nothing is uploaded.

## How to use it

1. **Add WebP images.** Drop one or several. They're converted as soon as they're in.
2. **Pick the quality.** High suits most photos. Best keeps the most detail; Smaller file trades some for size.
3. **Download.** Save a single JPG, or all of them in one ZIP.

## When JPG is the better choice

JPG is the format every phone, editor, printer and upload form takes, and it keeps photos small. If a site rejects a WebP, or an app shows a blank thumbnail, a JPG of the same picture is the safest swap.

PNG is the other choice. It's lossless and keeps transparency, but a photo as PNG is much larger than as JPG.

## Quality and transparency

JPG compresses with loss, and the quality setting decides how much. In most photos, Best (95%) and High (90%) are hard to tell from the WebP; Smaller file (75%) can show soft edges and blocks around text.

JPG has no transparency, so transparent areas of the WebP, such as the background of a logo, are filled with white.

## With ffmpeg

ffmpeg reads still WebP images. -q:v sets the JPG quality from 2, the highest, to 31; higher numbers give smaller, softer files.

- ffmpeg -i picture.webp -q:v 2 picture.jpg

## Questions

### Are my images uploaded?

No. Each WebP is decoded and written as JPG in your browser. Nothing is sent anywhere.

### Which quality should I pick?

High (90%) for most photos. Pick Best when you'll edit the JPG further, and Smaller file when the size matters more than fine detail.

### Why did the background turn white?

JPG can't store transparency, so transparent areas are filled with white. Convert to PNG instead to keep them transparent.

### Is the JPG bigger or smaller than the WebP?

Usually a little bigger, since WebP compresses better than JPG at the same look. Smaller file brings it down.

### What about animated WebP?

Only the first frame is converted, since a JPG holds one image.

### Can I convert many WebP files at once?

Yes. Drop them together, and the download button saves every JPG in one ZIP.
