Drop in WebP images saved from websites and get PNGs that open in any app. Transparent areas stay transparent, and the files never leave your browser.

Runs in your browser. Nothing is uploaded.

## How to use it

1. **Add WebP images.** Drop one or several. Each is converted as soon as it's in.
2. **Check the list.** Each PNG shows its size in pixels and the file size before and after.
3. **Download.** Save a single PNG, or all of them in one ZIP.

## Why a WebP won't open

Many websites serve images as WebP because the files are smaller, so an image you save from a browser often ends in .webp. Browsers open it, but some image editors, older apps and upload forms don't take it.

PNG is read almost everywhere. It's lossless and keeps transparency, so a logo or sticker on a transparent background comes out the same.

## What changes in the file

The PNG shows the same pixels as the WebP. It doesn't add detail: if the WebP was saved lossy, its blur and blocks are in the PNG too.

Expect a larger file. WebP compresses better than PNG, and a photo saved as PNG can be several times the size of the WebP. For a photo you only need to open or share, WebP to JPG gives a smaller file.

## With Google's dwebp

Google's WebP tools include dwebp, which writes PNG by default. It doesn't read animated WebP.

- dwebp picture.webp -o picture.png

## Questions

### Are my images uploaded?

No. Each WebP is decoded and written as PNG in your browser. Nothing is sent anywhere.

### Does the PNG keep the transparent background?

Yes. PNG has transparency, so transparent and see-through areas stay as they are.

### Why is the PNG so much bigger?

PNG stores every pixel without loss, while WebP compresses harder. The picture is the same; only the file is larger.

### What about animated WebP?

Only the first frame is converted, since a PNG holds one image.

### Can I convert many WebP files at once?

Yes. Drop them together; they're converted one after another, and the download button saves them all in one ZIP.

### Is the photo's metadata kept?

No. The PNG is drawn from the pixels, so details such as the camera model and location aren't copied.
