Enter your subscribers, watch hours and Shorts views to see which route into the YouTube Partner Program you're closest to and how much is left.

## How to use it

1. **Enter your numbers.** Copy subscribers, watch hours and Shorts views from YouTube Studio's Analytics.
2. **Read both routes.** Long videos need 4,000 watch hours; Shorts need 10 million views. Both need 1,000 subscribers.
3. **Tick off the rest.** The checklist covers what YouTube asks for besides the numbers.

## YouTube's monetization requirements

To join the YouTube Partner Program, a channel needs 1,000 subscribers and one of: 4,000 qualified watch hours on long videos in the last 12 months, or 10 million qualified Shorts views in the last 90 days. Watch hours from the Shorts Feed don't count toward the 4,000.

The numbers aren't all. You also need to live where the program is available, have no active Community Guidelines strikes, turn on 2-Step Verification, have advanced features on, and link an AdSense account. Meeting everything doesn't guarantee a place: YouTube reviews the channel first, which it says usually takes about a month.

## Which route to aim for

Watch hours build slowly but steadily on longer videos; Shorts views can arrive in bursts but count only for 90 days. Aim for the route your channel already leans toward, since both share the 1,000 subscribers.

From February 1, 2027, earning from the Shorts pool also needs 10 million qualified Shorts views in the last 90 days, even after joining.

## Questions

### How many subscribers do I need to monetize on YouTube?

1,000, along with 4,000 watch hours in the last 12 months or 10 million Shorts views in the last 90 days.

### Do Shorts watch hours count toward the 4,000?

No. Watch hours from the Shorts Feed don't count toward the 4,000-hour route. Shorts count through their own route: 10 million views in 90 days.

### I meet the numbers. Am I in?

Not yet. Apply in YouTube Studio; YouTube reviews the whole channel against its monetization policies before accepting it.

### Where do I find these numbers?

In YouTube Studio, under Earn, which shows your progress, and in Analytics for subscribers, watch time and Shorts views.

### Is what I type sent anywhere?

No. The checker runs in your browser and doesn't send what you enter.
