JFIF, the JPEG File Interchange Format, is the standard way JPEG images are stored. Most .jpg files are JFIF inside; only the extension differs. Some browsers and Windows save images from the web as .jfif, and many upload forms and apps only look for .jpg or .jpeg.
So the fix is the name, not the picture. This tool copies each file byte for byte under a .jpg name. The quality setting doesn't apply, and the photo's metadata, such as the date and location, stays in the file.
For one file, renaming it does the same. On a Mac, Finder may ask you to confirm the new extension. From Terminal or Command Prompt:
- Mac: mv image.jfif image.jpg
- Windows: ren image.jfif image.jpg
