Add a banner
Drop a JPG or PNG. It isn't uploaded. To start from scratch, download the template instead.
- 2
Check the safe area
The outline marks what shows on computers, phones and TVs. Anything outside it shows only on larger screens.
- 3
Download to fit
Crop it to 2560 × 1440 or 2048 × 1152 as a JPG, well under the 6 MB limit.
YouTube needs a channel banner of at least 2048 × 1152 pixels, in 16:9, up to 6 MB, and recommends 2560 × 1440 for the best display, especially on TVs. One image serves every device: TVs show all of it, while computers and phones crop it to a strip across the middle.
What's left on every device is the safe area: 1235 × 338 pixels in the middle of a 2048 × 1152 banner. On a 2560 × 1440 banner that's about 1544 × 423. Keep your channel name, text and logo inside it.
The template is a 2560 × 1440 PNG that's clear in the safe area and shaded outside it. Put it as the top layer in Canva, Figma or Photoshop, design underneath, then hide it before you export.
- Fill the whole 16:9 with background: TVs show all of it.
- Keep anything people must read inside the outline.
- Export at 2560 × 1440 as a JPG to stay well under 6 MB.
